A truly tragic motor vehicle accident in Edwardsville, Kansas has claimed the lives of three people and left two children injured. The accident happened on K-32 in between 98th Street and 102nd Street. A 42-year-old man driving his 2002 Kia crossed the center line and entered oncoming traffic. His vehicle collided head on with another vehicle, a 2009 Mazda, and two occupants in that vehicle — aged 29 and 33 — were killed as well.

Two children were injured in the wreck, but no information about them is known at this time. The police are investigating the crash, as at this time it is unknown why the 42-year-old’s vehicle suddenly crossed the center divide.

Here we see the horrible effects of car accidents. So many people lose their lives every year to car accidents, and many others suffer debilitating or life-changing injuries in these wrecks. For those who cause these accidents due to their own negligence and recklessness, they should be held accountable.

The police report for this incident will be very interesting. Was the 42-year-old intoxicated or tired? Was he suffering from a medical emergency? Did a mechanical failure lead to the wreck? Was this simply “an accident?”

Time will tell, but the report will hold significance. Many accident victims use the police report to supplement and support their personal injury lawsuit against any negligent or reckless drivers involved in their crash.
